After writing the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the brewing equipment, I noticed employees not using the heavy-text documentation as a reference and making errors. Employees need a visible resource that doesn't require them to use their hands (which may be wearing gloves) with the main steps outlined.
Since employees have already read the standard operating procedures and have been formally trained on equipment operation, this supplemental job aid will prevent employees from making errors in a multiple-step process. If employees have questions, they can still reference the SOP. For day-to-day operation, employees have used this resource more frequently and errors have been reduced.
